I borrowed my business partner's traditional baler this year and hooked it up on the back of my tractor, crossed my fingers and drove down the rowed up hay. I have to say I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, thanks for lending it to me Pritch. It didn't miss a beat in the 70 bales it made. Mike Thorney- Shaw made 34 large round bales too, so not a bad yield for such a dry summer.

Field Scabious
We were very pleased to see a few field scabious this year, these are naturally occurring and although normally appear in dry meadows, they like nutrient poor soil which is ideal for establishing neutral grassland. This is an indicator species for species-rich grassland.
